The Mammoth Rebuy concludes - Blogger mobneys are da best

Now, how fun was that? Thanks Katitude for hosting the Mammoth Rebuy for those of us unable to attend Mastodon Weekend in G-Vegas. The Mammoth felt like old times at the Blogger Friday Night Donkament. $1 + $1 rebuy with mandatory shoving of hammers is just what the doctor ordered. It was almost better then G...no it wasn't, but hell. Showing Buddy the 5 high bluff could come close.

JJ was good to me more then once tonight, ok, it was exactly twice, but I was able to finally match stacks and for a few minutes be the chipleader to card rack, and spectacular luckbox by the name of the PokerWolf. Geebus dude, how many times did you get aces? I got them once. got paid for 'em too, but that's another story. For a while tonight, he had an M of 240. Friggin' 240!

Congrats to on_thg for finishing 3rd. Way to fight with the short stack and take total advantage of my over playing Rush poker lately. (Look, two cards, I raise. Fawk!) BuddyDank finished 4th. His Ako was no match for my JJo. JJ was the nuts for me tonight. Bubbling tonight was Longshot1999 (sorry no link love, you got a blog, shoot me the link!).

PokerWolf and I were sitting at 60 some big blinds at midnight. My math co-processor had long since gone to bed and I was merely playing position and situations. Simple math was out of the question. I get the feeling PokerWolf was starting to feel the same way. He offered up a 50/50 chop. It was late, it sounded zzzz.....where was I?

We'll need to do this more. By 12:30 CST, people were disappearing from chat like crazy. Either we are getting old, or AlCantHang is gonna be embarrassed the next time he's hanging out with us. That's it for me. I'm about ready to fall over. And to the angels out there, it shoved nicely :) Thanks! Good game everyone! Good night!

(I tried proofing this. Didn't work. Too tired. Read it best you can. Must sleep now. Night night.)

Am I bitter about not going to Mastodon Weekend, maybe a little

It's Mastodon Weekend in G-Vegas. As Kat reminds us suffering from Responsible Adult Syndrome (RAS), we have to avoid our urges to spend the weekend running rickshaws around the block and drinking far more booze then we should.

The Friday night rebuy is back! Even if you are in G-Vegas, fire up that laptop, hook up to the intertubes and shove baby shove. So fire up Full Tilt and look for me, or Kat or tournament #14366796. If you are like me and have been playing nothing but rush poker for the last month, this won't be much different.

And don't forget, we say 'Hello' at this game by shoving absolutely any two cards for "a while". Maybe TwoBlackAce will stop by and break his record of, not sure if this is accurate, but something like 78 rebuys? So pull out the bankroll, grab some one and come join us as we set them on fire.

Friday. 9 pm CST - Full Tilt. You know you want to...

Presto is not gold and I'm not Fuel

Presto is not gold & Jim just can't let go of A 10.

Finished 2nd in the Donkament tonight. Katitude - Congrats on the cash! How fitting for your anniversary. Gentleman Jim, getting lucky at the right time. :-)

Must sleep now. 5 am seems like it will be here soon...

Hide the fold button and turn on auto max rebuy

In case you are defective in some way and can't read white or blue letters on a black background, tonight is the 2nd Anniversary of the Friday Night Blogger Donkament. Quite possibly the easiest way to deplete your Full Tilt bankroll while laughing your a$$ off.

$1 + $1 rebuy
password = donkarama

tonight...

on Full Tilt...

Can Two Black Aces break his personal best 78 rebuys? Has someone broken his record without me knowing about? I hear Buddy Dank Radio will even be broadcasting live! If I'm lucky, they will even let me on air...ohhh boooiiiiii!!!!! Can NumbBono continue to just dominate this thing likes it's one private ATM machine?

See ya tonight!

I like jokes about tetrahedrons

This week on Poker After Dark (pretend that's Ali Nejad talkin') it's Brilliant Minds week. Brandon Adams, Chris Ferguson, Andy Bloch, Bill Chen, Jimmy Warren and David Skalansky. If you don't like math jokes, this wasn't your week.

Actually this is an amazing collection of quite brilliant minds period. If I'm not mistaken, David Skalansky is the only one not holding an advanced degree. Andy Bloch and Brandon Adams have yet to reach their PhDs, but each holds more the one masters. That's a lot of SAT points...Damn!

I grew up kind of a strange kid. My heros were, Rod Carew, Albert Einstein and Ben Franklin. I know, I'm a geek. If it makes you feel any better, I also though Hanibal Smith was pretty awesome too.

I watched the episodes this week and was fascinated about how certain players played. Most of them appeared to be pretty solid players, you'd expect that, but Ferguson and Bloch each had a lot of gamble in them. Ferguson on more then one occasion was calling very large bets on what appeared to be coin flip situations. Even in a 6 max sng, I'm not sure I call almost my entire stack with 99.

Bill Chen was the victim of about the coldest deck you can imagine. The man with a great run in 2006 WSOP first ran AQo into Ferguson's 99 (?). I really had no idea how Ferguson calls for his entire stack there. If someone can explain that math to me, let me know. The very next hand, while having a really short stack, Chen flops aces up. A3. Of course Jimmy Warren played his AA perfectly. (Unlike me from last Sunday)

Poker has been a long way from my schedule lately. I'm currently on the tail end of my first large project at work. The pressure is on to get it out the door. This has left me burned out at the end of the day. Just like going deep in a live tournament, my brain resembles Jell-o at the end of the day.

One welcome deviation this week came on Wednesday night. My good friend MumblingSages and I were lucky enough to enjoy the absolutely best seats at the Excel Energy Center for the Wild victory over the Colorado Avalanche. Check it out...it was a damn fun night.

This has been the sum of poker for me this week. I did play a few sngs on Tuesday night, but nothing too impressive or noteworthy. I even missed poker league (oh, the horror). The biggest poker highlight has been the Donkament. I didn't play particularly well. I over played AJ during the rebuy period when I had plenty of chips and doubled up Numbette. I knew she had AK but seriously figured she would lay it down. D'oh!

The best part of the night had to be watching OhCountess not only cash, but finish second to the unstoppable NumbBono. He's now 7 of his last 7. I won it two weeks ago, but of course he wasn't there. Can anyone stop this man?

My project will be done soon. I hope to finish up more of my Vegas recap very soon and detail my plans to attend Eh Vegas! The passport application has been submitted...let's cross our fingers. Anyone want to play some live poker? I'm ready!

Is there anything sweeter then blogger money?

I am happy to report that I took down another of these crazy tournaments.

Thanks to the lovely Kat for hosting, it was fun. Why more people don't play the Friday Nite Blogger Donkament. It's a "grab a beer and hold on to your butts" good time. Rebuy mayhem, followed by deep stack poker.

Thanks to pippo_rox for paying $2 to sign up for the tournament, and never rebuying. Thanks to Astin for never saying no to a rebuy. Thanks to dontknow for sitting out. Thanks to Pushmonkey for shoving the 2nd largest stack in to the largest stack and bursting the bubble for nzgreen and I to cash with our short stacks. Thanks to nzgreen for your graciousness in that sick beat you placed on me rivering the K so AJ loses to KJ. Thanks to muhctim whom I always hope gets lucky just one time and hangs for the entire evening. Friggin' RCG. And Julius Goat...it's nice to see you out and play.

A huge thanks to Two Black Aces. Not only are you the zen master of shoving with ATC's, but there is no fear in your eyes when the max auto rebuy flashes like the bright lights of the paparazii. And hey, playing deep stack with you and nzgreen was a blast. There is a reason you consistently go deep in the big MTT's and it ain't the cards.

This victory would not be possible at all without Full Tilt Poker setting up a lovely final hand. Heads up. We both flop top pair with backdoor straight draws and totally ugly cards. I can think of no better way to finish up a Donkament then with these hideous cards.

Is there anything sweeter then blogger money? I think not :-P

Summer's Last Breath

I can tell summer is just about over. The Minnesota State Fair is underway and my oldest daughter is anxious to get back to school. This leaves precious little time to enjoy our short season...and thus, sacrifices are made.

I haven't been playing a lot of poker. A few sit-n-gos here and there and my favorite blogger tournament, The Friday Night Donkament and that's about it. We had a blast last week as usual. Bdidde and I chopped first and second place. Seems we both had a good return on that tournament. I bought in for ~$8. Just wish that once and a while, I'd make the cut for the side bets on the winner. I seem to always be..."The Field." Funny thing...Bdidde and I were the field when the betting started. We weren't even in the win/place/show phase. Suckas! Well played to all of the final table. Some tough competition and fantastic conversation!

If you aren't playing, you really need to consider it. Bam-bam's recent post does try to describe it, but I'll add what I like about it. It's just plain fun. The chat window is usually scrolling by faster then I can read and the one liners are zinging. This is a rebuy tournament. It's fairly cheap, so the rebuys are plenty and the suck outs historic. That's the therapy. You shove it in with monster like K7o and realize that you might be ahead...only to loose to the 3 deuce on the river. After the rebuy period, you are now sitting at a deep stack table with people that know how to play cards, but don't worry, the jokes just keep coming.

Tonight, I start a new 8 week poker league. We'll see how it goes. Seems this time we are fighting out for a poker cruise. Could be fun. Could be some of the sickest poker ever played. I hope to just keep learning from it and figure out how to keep myself focused. It gets hard to stay on track when it takes 8 weeks to get to the first step in getting the prize. But hey, it's live poker.

With one more week of summer to go, I'm not really sure I'll be on the virtual felt much, but you never know. I might be tuning in to a tournament you are playing and drop you a BOOM! You just never know.

Vacation is over, time for the welcome home party

It is good to be home. You know that your vacation was full and complete when everyone is excited to see their own beds. Even my kids were glad to finally sleep in a familiar room. I've been posting the latest pictures on my photoblog. Hopefully you find them not to be just your ordinary vacation snapshots.
.
I did play some poker on vacation, nothing live, but every hotel we stayed at was serving up the free wi-fi. For the most part, being on the east coast was horrible on the ROI. I don't think I won or even cashed in a single SNG. The sheer volume of coolers I was taking caused me more then once to consider the nuclear option and send my laptop into the wall.

The whole family was exhausted from a day of travels and the change of time zones allowed me to play the Mookie on Wednesday. I played two hands. I raised it up from UTG with KK and you lucky scumbags mucked, mucked, mucked, mucked, mucked, mucked, mucked, mucked and mucked. Dear God! Its a donkament and not one of you could call a standard raise! Not that this last long. I got moved to a new table and shortly after that played AA. Got called. Got it all in on a 9 high board and only to realize that I was up against a flopped set of 4s. Sigh.

As any good Minnesotan will tell you, summer is a hectic time of the year. We are jamming as much activity into 3 months as most of you do all year. With vacation, the return to work and my last birthday as a 30 something all occurring this last week, it was nice to finally relax in the Friday Night Donkament host by the lovely Kat.

The Donkament continued my frustration in poker lately. Seems if there is a way for someone to catch up in a hand, the will, or if I have someone dominated, there is a gurantee that they will hit their bottom pair. I was catching cards, I got KK and JJ 3 times a piece. Each failed miserably. With 5 minutes left to go in the rebuy period, I rebought one more time. Thankfully, I was able to triple up just before the break. Not where I like to be in the big stack portion of the night but I'll take it.

I'll need to go through the hand histories to figure out just exactly what happened, but somehow, I was able to take my meager little stack and put myself towards the top of the leader board. JJOK and Easycure had made an insane amount of chips during the rebuy period. If memory serves, JJOK had 10 times as many chips as me. No matter. For the first time in a long time, my hands started holding up, I was hitting my sets and some how, some way, my reads were correct AND the other player didn't hit two miracle cards to still win the hand.

And shortly there after, we lost JJOK.

We got heads up, and Easycure offers me the chop. I had over 100,000 in chips and he was hovering around 70,000. I just didn't feel like I needed to chop. I was in a good position to win this thing and I love HU poker. These next two hands pretty much sealed my fate.

Well fought game boys. After the rebuy period, I would have just been happy to cash, but building my stack to chipleader but a bunch, losing pretty much blew. I did probably overplay my ace in that first hand, oh well. It was nice to finally cash again. Hopefully this means the tide is turning.

I'm working on a post about Poker Tracker 3. Let's just say, I'm not very happy right now and that product isn't even close to ready for primetime.

Why am I so tired?

What a fun weekend. Bare with me folks, there is a lot to cover today.

It's Sunday morning and I need to write a post to share some poker fun before it gets to be too much! I'm still exhausted from Friday night, but hey, that hasn't stopped me yet.

Friday night's Donkament was sort of fun. It started fun but shall we never mention PinkyStinky ever again. For some stupid reason, I decided to play the hand of the devil (AQ) vs AT for all my chips. Why do I even play that hand?

But let's remember why we play the Donkament and hang out on a Friday night. It's not about the poker, its about the laughs.

After the dust had settled and Surflexus won the Donkament, a few of us gathered together to play the latest craze in drunken poker, newly dubbed a "Kat Fight" but best described as poker crack. Not to blow my own horn, but I'm pretty sure you will find the definitive Super Turbo SNG strategy guide here. Seriously folks, I have been playing these for a while and have never failed to cash in them. Sweet, sweet money.

We also tried a $5 H.O.R.S.E. tournament NumbBono talks about here, here and here (hehe). My biggest problem was failing to convince IT and NumbBono that we needed a last longer bet. The fact that I suck at split pot games means I only get 3 levels to make up for the huge losses suffered in the O8 and Stud8 rounds. You can only make so much money during Razz. I do believe all of us finished in the top third of all entries but IT and NumbBono were no match for my...crap. I last longer. Let's just leave it at that.

Joining the party late was RaisingCayne. He was playing the Midnight Madness tournament and rocking it! The clock never stopped ticking. The hour hand on the clock kept moving and somewhere around 3AM, he finished 2nd! Nice job sir! But crap! My kids will be up in 4 hours and OhCountess is working. Life is gonna suck.

OhPrincess2 had a birthday party to attend, which left me with the rare opportunity to spend some Daddy daughter time with OhPrincess1. I was really tired, but I wasn't going to squander this time. We decided to take our cameras to a local nature center and have some fun. Well worth it. Hmm...that sounds like a good idea for posts on a couple of other blogs...

I have no idea why I decided it would be a good idea to stay up so late on Friday night. I knew that Saturday night, OhCountess had gotten us tickets to The Colin and Brad Show at Treasure Island Casino. No kids, just the two of us and the chance for a lot of fun.

On Friday, I'd found out that PokerFool and his wife were heading up to the same casino. Since he was going to the card room, OhCountess told me to plan on play some cards as well.

After we had dinner, I headed over to the card room to get my name on the list. The show was scheduled for 9:30 so I could spend a little time there before the show. In another surprise, we ran into Eloise from our home game donking it up already when we got there.

I wasn't really sure how the night was going to go, so I got my name on the $2/$4 LHE tables. They called my name at 7:30 giving me about an hour and half to play before reorging for the show. Bought in for a $100 and took my chair.

I get incredibly lucky to hit two bigger hands while playing my usually super tight to start a table. This gave me the exact credibility I wanted for this table. 9 passive calling stations were seated around me. I flopped a set of 8s once for a nice size pot and then rivered a full house on a flushed board for an even bigger pot. I love pot control!

At about 10 minutes to 9, I decided that I'd take my buy in of profit and go find the Mrs. The show was absolutely hilarious! During the "Jeopardy" portion of the show, Mr. and Mrs. OhCaptain were asked up on stage to be comedy victims will participants of the sketch. Our role was to lip sync the dialog of our characters while Colin and Brad supplied the dialog and voices. We had no idea what they were going to say, but we hammed it up any ways. On an interesting side note, you can use the same skills reading people at the poker table as you do anticipating the words a comedian is going to say. hehe!

By the time the show was done, I was wiped out. I'm laughing my ass off in the show and trying desperately not to fall asleep at the same time. So this next decision is a bit suspect. OhCountess really thought I should head back to the 2/4 table and, being a good husband, I said sure. I can give back my $100 in profit.

I fully intended to just quit if I couldn't play well and she told me to try it for a hour and see how it goes.

After an hour, had taken another $100 buy in and decided to cash out the addition $70 I had made that hour. Woot! Woot! PokerFool looked like he was holding his own and Eloise had left somewhere during this time. It was 1am and I had 4 hours of sleep in the last 2 days. Since my time had expired, I was starting to notice mistakes in my game. I missed calling a bet I should and know to call and then played a hand without near the number outs I need to justify playing it. Thankfully, these didn't cost me much, but the writing was on the wall. I NEEDED SLEEP.

Got back to where we were staying and crashed.

Since becoming a dad 8 years ago, a transformation has occurred in biology. Like Pavlov's Dog, I have been trained to wake up at 7:15am. Son of Biatch! Oh well. I'm still having fun...we are heading out now to enjoy our last few hours before we have to pick up the kids. Maybe I'll play a little more online tonight...or maybe I'll just fall asleep on the couch. I'd love to hear where the over/under is on that :)

Lucksackary: How I bluffed, cheated, folded and laughed my way to $137.50

The secret to winning a tournament of this caliber is education. If you work hard enough at learning about poker, you too can win the Donkament.

My education comes from reading the excerpts of the coming book "Stupid/System" by Julius Goat. In the last chapter published, I found the gem that pushed my game over the edge. Its a concept called "Table Image."

Most people don't realize how important it is to chose the correct background to their Full Tilt application. Bayne, a noted authority on the game of poker, commented on the latest chapter about how hacking the app and making the final table your default view will "... (give) me a more confident mindset."

I'm always looking for an edge...this seems to be the edge I was looking for. In my first tournament with the hack in place, I won it all! The grand prize. A cool stack of green backs. Two Black Aces retirement fund. $137.50.

With my confident mindset intact, it was time to put some cards in the air and play some poker. Since this is a rebuy, we never speak of what ACTUALLY transpired during the rebuy period. If you weren't there, all you need to know is that raises were made and raises were called. Fortunes were won and fortunes were lost. The only thing of public note was Two Black Aces set a new record for the number of individual rebuys. For his heroic efforts, I am truly grateful.

Here is my starting table:

A general observation that I came away from this period of the tournament: if you REALLY want to confuse a group of bloggers during the rebuy period of a donkament, do a standard 3.5XBB raise. Stops them dead in there tracks. Seriously, they look like the proverbial deer looking into the headlights. We actually had hands the LOOKED like poker during the rebuy. It was a beautiful thing. I heard Scooby Doo in the background, "Huh?"

In these rebuys, my goal is to get a nice size pile of chips and then sit on them until the end of the rebuy. Give myself enough to play without fear in the beginning of the poker portion of the evening. At the break, I bought the add-on and started the post-rebuy period with T$22,330. I was second in chips. Kajagugu (3,800), Donkette (3,650) and Baywolfe (7,260) had steep hills to climb. Julius_Goat seemed still hung over from last weeks donkfest, but still had enough chips to play with (11,735). IslandBum1 was easily our table captain with (49,645). Joanne1111 was 3rd in chips with (18,080). We lost jimdniacc towards the end of the rebuy period. I believe this was to allow him to focus on his BDR duties. It was now time to play some actual poker.

This first phase of the tournament I employed a classic technique called "Cleaning the kitchen." You see the wife was away for the evening helping the SIL with her birthing classes. I still had a will to live so I stayed home. Unfortunately...I also had no desire to clean up after supper. Since the will to live was stronger than my will to die at the hands of my wife...I used liberal use of the fold button to buy me the time needed to clean up the kitchen and dining room. Success was had as when the wife got home she thanked me for taking the time to clean up. All was well.

I spent several blind levels folding. The antes kicked in, so I did start stealing enough to tread water. I hover right around T$20,000 for several blind levels. There was plenty of action to watch, I took this as a signal to just sit at the sidelines and let every attack each other. We lost Kajagugu when he ran second pair into Donkette's pocket kings.

Several hands later, we lost a player to the first time AA got cracked after the rebuy period. Baywolfe called the all in raise from Julius_Goat. Aces were just no match when Goat turned over the 7 high flush draw and hit it on the turn.

Since we were now down to 5 runners, I stepped up the pace in which I'm playing hands. I had hoped by now that I was seen as playing very tight.

Julius_Goat learned the hard way that top pair and second kicker is no match for Donkette's pocket aces, and the master scribe goes home to contemplate why he was unable to grasp the concepts in his own book and go deeper in this tournament. After the dealer yell, "Dead man walking. Seat open!" RaisingCayne, also known as "Massive Chipleader" joins us in an empty chair on my left. Let me tell you, nothing made me happier then to have the tournament chipleader and darn good poker player sit down on my left. Yippeee!!!

I countinued to just keep treading water. My stack never really changing size much. It was at this time we started getting a brand new appreciation about just how HOT Joanne1111 really is. Everyone at the table was listening to BDR. Joanne1111 was broadcasting with the rest of the game and right around this time in the tournament, she had some of the loudest orgasms ever broadcast by Instant Tragedy. Well done! I was surprised she could still play poker. I figured she'd been out for a LONG smoke break after that. OMG!!! OMG!!!

The five of us just kept shifting the chips around the table. I really hadn't been paying attention to the other table. Without much warning, I found out that my hack had truly worked well and the table filled with 4 new faces...my background and "Table Image" were still intact. The final table had come to me!

I started the final table 3rd in chips. I was happy with that but felt I could really do more if I had less chips. In this next hand, I show why I hate AKo

I hate AKo. I should have just gotten out of the way on the flop. I didn't play that very smart and I'm pretty sure RaisingCayne knew it. I got the feeling that he knew I was weak. You knew I was weak didn't you.

With Muhctim falling with King high, I was still stinging from my deflation with AK. The BDR guys finally got around to doing the picks. New guy Jim From Nothern Iowa picked me. Sweet! Of course he picked me because we don't live that far apart. Joanada also mentioned she would have picked me next. I felt very honored and just knew this new table image thing was working!

Again, I did much folding and enjoyed much chatting. When this hand occurred, I figured it might just be a good time to double up or go home...

Yes, I after I pushed them all in, I closed my eyes and waited for the chip dragging sound. Holy Crap Batman! I won! I won! Aces held! Now to make these last. Yeah, right!

A time warp now occurred. The author of this post realized just how long he was running. During the warp, we discovered the Buddy was gay. He also found out the KK is not a favorite to AA. I found out that AK can beat 66 when I removed the burden of chips from Donkette. Joanada keeps everything trim, she doesn't like unkept shrubbery. TBA took a sick beat when he flops top pair vs an unimproved AT...only to witness the A on the turn.

We played 4 handed forever! I also learned that this particular blogament is for a seat at the tournament of champions. Unfortunately, this is a rail seat...but hey, a seat is a seat, right? We also made an agreement after about 9 hours of play (it may have been shorter, but it felt like 9 hours) that the winner of the tournament would pay the 4th place person $10. Seemed fair. I was hovering around that spot, so I agreed.

With the bubble essentially burst by the agreement, I opened up my game a lot and turned on the agression. I was stealing puts and pushing people around for a while building a nice tidy pile. I was getting some bigger pots this way. This had been the first time I'd been fighting back the whole tournament and I was taking advantage of some of the players agressive tendancies.

Here's a hand for you scoring at home. I had a healthy stack of chips when this happened...(I thought I was gonna be rich)

RaisingCayne was having nothing of it. Was I bluffing or did I actually raise it up with the hammer. Yep. That was the hammer.

The stagnation of 4 people was huge. Our stacks were huge compared the blinds and antes so basically we were waiting for hand over hand or someone to get impatient at the wrong time. And just when I thought I'd be the one...the suckout angel appears to grant me one wish...

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to OhCaptain [Kh Ah]
InstantTragedy folds
Joanne1111 raises to 33,300, and is all in
OhCaptain raises to 63,600

Uncalled bet of 30,300 returned to OhCaptain
*** FLOP *** [4c Th Qh]
RaisingCayne: 88
*** TURN *** [4c Th Qh] [2d]
*** RIVER *** [4c Th Qh 2d] [2h]
OhCaptain shows a flush, Ace high
Joanne1111 shows two pair, Aces and Twos
OhCaptain wins the pot (71,200) with a flush, Ace high
Joanne1111 stands up

A flush. Again - the aces get cracked. I don't think I'd ever play this had different.

Down to 3 handed. I'm getting paid for the evening. Not like I needed the money. I was having fun and laughing a lot. Poker was fun again. We really weren't that far apart in chips and several times the lead changed. I really wanted to win this tournament and had made my mind up to take some risks to see if I could get there.
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to OhCaptain [Kc Qs] <-Its 3 handed, I'm on the button. Its time for some pressure.
OhCaptain raises to 15,500
RaisingCayne has 15 seconds left to act
RaisingCayne raises to 35,500 <-Not atypical. Could be a resteal, might be real cards
InstantTragedy has 15 seconds left to act
InstantTragedy has requested TIME
InstantTragedy folds
OhCaptain calls 20,000 <-I'm taking a risk, but I'm will to take a look at the flop and see where this goes. Cayne had be kicking me around a bit. I'd been doing some of my weak leaks. *** FLOP *** [As 5d Jc] <- Hmm...I'm drawing to broadway. I've got position.
RaisingCayne has 15 seconds left to act
RaisingCayne bets 10,000 <- Something about this just tells me weak. This feels like a continuation bet for a hand that's missed. Could it be QQ?
OhCaptain calls 10,000 <-If I'm right about the QQ, I can actually be in a good spot to steal this later, or better yet, hit a ten for the nuts.
*** TURN *** [As 5d Jc] [4s]
RaisingCayne checks <-I'm convinced he's got QQ. There are now 3 draws, the wheel, broadway and now spades. He's got something to fear.
Baywolfe (Observer): this is delicious
OhCaptain checks <- I'm taking the free card. A raise is something I won't call here.
*** RIVER *** [As 5d Jc 4s] [Th] <- welcome to the nuts.
RaisingCayne checks <- Can I bet something here to get value out of this check? Was he just bluffing this whole time? To me, this is just such a pivotal hand.
OhCaptain bets 12,000 <-I know I have the nuts. I'm hoping for a value call. A shove would more fun, but I'm not holding my breath. This is a good, solid player.
RaisingCayne calls 12,000
*** SHOW DOWN ***
OhCaptain shows [Kc Qs] a straight, Ace high
RaisingCayne shows [Qd Qc] a pair of Queens <- Wow. My suspicions were correct. Nice hand sir. I know I got lucky.
OhCaptain wins the pot (120,500) with a straight, Ace high

This crippled RaisingCayne. Not long after this, we were heads up.

InstantTragedy and I didn't really play all that long heads up. I was wearing my gambling shoes and came to play. I also got my money in behind. No need to dig to deep into them. I was calling his all ins with one of my favorite hands heads up JT and I'd call with any ace or any king. It paid off, two suckouts later, I rake in my fortune. $137.50. That's the prize minus the $10 to Joanada.

Wow! That was fun. I haven't played much poker since then. We've been preparing for spring. Seems it might get warm here after all.

I strongly recommend you read Stupid/System. Its helping me. Improving my "Table Image" explains everything. With the right image in place...the world is my oyster. Great job everyone! I had a blast. I'll be back to give this money back, someday. Well, I'll be back, not sure I want to give back the money.

I got a seat at the TOC!

Well, its at the rail seat.

The wife was out tonight, so I entered the Friday Night Blogger Donkament. Again, for those of you scoring at home, this is my second rebuy tournament.

Yes, I won one of the blogger tournaments with no TOC seat. No problem. I had a blast and will be writing more about this once the rush of watching 654 go down in flames by 6ths street every time I had it. Ugg. I love razz!
